Aloha Pūʻōhala Ohana!
We have entered a new month with only 3 months remaining in the school year! How fast it has gone by! Hau'oli Malaki or Happy March to everyone. The kids will be off for one week starting next Saturday, March 12. That's when spring break begins marking the end of the 3rd quarter of school. Here are some items to share with our ohana: 1) ʻImi Pono 2022 - this SATURDAY, MARCH 5 12-3PM: This event benefits the students in the kaiapuni program, put on by the parent group Hui Makua. Here is the website if you'd like more information of this festive event coming up in 2 days! www.huimakuaopuohala.weebly. com 2) If you missed our Pō ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi online activity last week Friday, we have posted the videos on our puohala.com website under our "Blog" tab. Your keiki brought home a package with items and fliers. Please do these activities with your ohana when you have a chance. 3) RAMBUTAN! - It's a fruit your keiki was able to taste today at lunch time. They brought home fliers today with great information about this fruit and how to prepare and eat it. It was delicious! Many haumana tried it for the first time today. I think at first it might have looked like a sea creature! LOL We also have the information up on our website. 4) SQS - School Quality Survey: We have about 120 parent surveys submitted according to the state office. Every child is counted so please fill one out for each of your keiki. The deadline is fast approaching! https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2022SQSParent 5) Appropriate School Attire: We would like our parents to help us with school attire. In the past, we had a uniform shirt but due to printing backups, we did not continue the purchase of additional shirts for ohana to purchase. Administration will begin the discussion with staff and students about our dress code. We will also have it on the agenda for the School Community Council meeting to be held March 8th 6-7pm. See our blog for the link at puohala.com. At this time we are asking parents to help by monitoring what your child is wearing: *** The boys and girls should have shorts that are long enough so as not to reveal any buttocks while standing or bending over. A good gauge for this is if their shorts are the same length as the tips of their fingertips when arms dropped down to their sides. *** We would prefer not to have midriffs showing (torso area) and no strapless or spaghetti strap tops. If they come in those, they will be asked to wear their jacket all day or put on a shirt from the health room. *** Clothing should be free of pictures or words related to drugs, alcohol or firearms as well as no profanity. Mahalo! Pūʻōhala Administration
