Aloha Pūʻōhala ʻOhana,
We hope all our keiki and ʻohana are safe and healthy at this time. As you already may be aware, the Hawai’i Department of Education has closed all public schools through April 30, 2020. Enrichment activities are being developed through the HIDOE as well as with our own Pūʻōhala staff to provide all students with continued academic support. Our staff has been working eagerly to give our students innovative learning opportunities that we hope excite them as much as it has excited us to create! Our school website will have an ‘Ohana Enrichment Corner beginning March 30. This will be for all our students and families to access. The plan going forward is for distribution of report cards, hard copy learning packets, and some technology hardware, during a drive-up service on April 6, 2020. Each teacher has been creating google classrooms for their students so it will be helpful for students to have computer access. The survey sent out last week helps us to support you with technology. More information coming to you later this week. On our school website is a "Library" section! Find our link at the Pūʻōhala School main website, or go to https://puohalalibrary.weebly.com/ to find the library directly. This "virtual library" provides helpful links, updates, and enrichment activities that all of our families can use right now! See our Quick Links, Storytime Any Time, and For Families tabs to get started with learning-at-home... Be sure to check back often, as site features are being updated every day! Fill out an "Ask the Librarian" form if you need more help with finding resources or simply answering random questions - think of it like your personal Google Assistant! Other resources are available through the HIDOE website for all families and students for the school closure period of March 30, 20202 to April 30, 2020. They will be placed on the main HIDOE website, then click on the COVID-19 tab. Resources will be added as the month progresses. https://wwwhawaiipublicschools.org. https://sites.google.com/k12.hi.us/resources-student-parent/home Lastly, this is the letter from our Complex-Area Superintendent Matt Ho.
