Aloha Pūʻōhala Ohana,
We hope you are all keeping healthy and practicing social distancing. As we enter into our week of extended Spring Break, rest assured we are preparing to move forward with some type of distance learning program for your keiki. We will share more details with you later this week. This is new territory for many of us. Please be patient with us as we learn together to reach out to our students via the web and special apps. For now, we need all our families to take a survey about your home’s technology capabilities and needs. Please complete the attached survey and submit as soon as possible. https://bit.ly/3abkbEa MEALS FOR CHILDREN Beginning tomorrow, Monday, March 23, the Windward schools listed below will be providing breakfast and lunch to-go for anyone under the age of 18. More details here: https://bit.ly/33Br0fR Breakfast 7:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. Lunch 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon (No meals on Thursday, March 26 - Kuhio Day holiday) Windward Schools: Kahalu’u Elementary Kahuku High & Intermediate King Intermediate (Kaneohe) Waimanalo Elem & Inter **Kailua Elementary will begin service on Tuesday, March 24 IN ADDITION TO THE MEAL SERVICE ABOVE THROUGH THE HIDOE: Our A+ partner YMCA will be helping to service the immediate community during the school’s extended shutdown. Starting Monday they will be providing lunch as a quick drive/pull up and pick up, for youth up to 18 only, next to Pū’ōhala. They will be there from 11 am until 1 pm or until they run out. They will only have 50 bags prepared for Monday, but based on the need from Monday, they will increase it day by day. Three staff will be following mandatory sanitization efforts and all distributors will be gloved. This is their effort meant to fill in the gaps, especially for the keiki in our neighborhood that may not have the means to travel to King intermediate school for the DOE feeding. This is NOT a DOE sponsored event. King Intermediate and Kahalu’u Elementary are the only two current schools providing breakfast AND lunch in the Kāne’ohe area.
