Aloha Families:
Representatives Scot Matayoshi and Lisa Kitagawa are sponsoring a Windward Community Drive-Thru Flu Shot Clinic on Saturday, September 18th from 9 am – 12 noon at Windward Community College. Times Pharmacy will be administering the flu shots to anyone 3 and older, and all major insurance carriers will be accepted. Please bring your insurance card for everyone getting a shot and a photo ID. We will also have the high dose flu shots available for seniors 65 and older at this clinic. Please remember to wear your mask. Like last year, the Stop the Flu at School program will be limited this year and most schools are not participating in the program. We encourage you to attend the drive-thru flu shot clinic if you’d like to get a flu vaccine for yourself and your children. The flu shot is also available at your doctor’s office or at participating pharmacies, however, if you do not feel comfortable going into those locations, this drive-thru flu shot clinic provides you with a safe and easy alternative. Please see the flyer for more information. We have also attached a flu vaccination consent and pre-screening form. You can fill out and print this form at home to make your visit quicker. However, if you do not have access to a printer, we will have forms available for you on the day of the clinic. Prevent Flu This Fall and Winter It's likely that the flu virus and COVID-19 will both spread this fall and winter. Healthcare systems are currently overwhelmed treating patients with COVID-19. Getting a flu vaccine this year is more important than ever. By preventing hospitalizations from the flu, we can help to ease the burden on our medical system. While getting a flu vaccine will not protect against COVID-19, there are many important benefits, such as: 1) flu vaccines have been shown to reduce the risk of flu illness, hospitalization, and death, and 2) getting a flu vaccine can also save healthcare resources for the care of patients with COVID-19. Additional Insurance Information Times Pharmacy contracts with all major insurance providers (HMA, HMAA, HMSA, Kaiser, UHA, TRICARE, PSWA, Hawaii Laborers Union, Medicare and Quest). Most insurance providers cover the cost of the flu vaccine completely with $0 copay. There are some cases where the vaccine wouldn't be covered 100%. Union insurances have a small copay of the total cost of the flu vaccine. Times will invoice the clinic participant if they do have a copay. If the clinic participant's insurance does not cover the flu vaccine, the cash price for the regular vaccine is $55 and $75 for the high dose vaccine. Times will be providing both the regular flu vaccine and a high dose vaccine for people 65 years or age and older at this clinic.
